I have held off on this topic for a while, partly because of work, but also to stop myself talking myself into trouble!!

Harry Kewell, for those who don't know, is an Australian footballer who has recently signed for Turkish team Galatassary. Big deal, you say, but yes, big deal it is.

Harry Kewell was a spotty kid when he was signed by Leeds United, who nurtured his obvious talent and turned him into a great footballer, who graced every football pitch with skill and determination, and played his heart out for Leeds United every week. He was a member of the Leeds team that challenged for honours, both at home and in Europe.

In April 2000, Kewell was a member of the Leeds United squad that travelled to istanbul to play Turkish team Galatassary in a European semi final. In the evening the day before the match, trouble broke out in the bars around town, and two Leeds fans, with no history of any violence at football, were tragically stabbed and killed by Turkish fans. Both were family men.

the shadow that this event cast upon the club was immense, Leeds asked for the game to be postponed in memory of the 2 men, but the Turks said no, and UEFA decided the game should go on. A bit like Heysel, the Leeds team were visibly shaken by the events, and played out the game with little interest. They were all gutted by what had happened, as press conferences afterwards showed, and since then, trouble has flared between English and Turkish fans whenever they have met.

The taste that it left in the mouth of the club and its fans was rank, and the club have marked the anniversary of the tragedy since then.

Forward wind to 2008. harry Kewell is now at Liverpool, and played a very tiny part in their European success due to injuries (but still picking up his tens of thousands of pounds per week salary). His contract is up for renewal, and Liverpool choose not to renew it, figuring it is not good business sense.

So Harry Kewell is, for want of a better word, unemployed. So who does he sign for................???

The dirty lowlife piece of shit has no conscience or respect for the people who lost their lives supporting the club and financing the club that in 2000 were paying his considerable wages. He has no sense of self respect or any sense of humility, instead choosing to go where the most money was on offer (yes, I know what you're thinking, but the guy is a millionaire many times over, and could have chosen another club for 10,000 a week less and still retired a very wealthy man). What an utter cunt.

Take the thug who carries a knife to see someone in hospital who is a victim of knife crime, and also their family, and then to prison to talk to those arrested for knife crime.........

Seriously, if anyone in their right mind thinks that this is gonna suddenly stop youngsters carrying knives and stabbing other people then they are seriously misguided. What planet is this government living on? Cos it aint no planet that I have ever visited.

The only way to stop this knife culture is to throw the book at them. Send them down for a minimum of 5 years with no early release irrespective of their age, and what's more, throw them in an adult prison. As the saying goes, lie with the dogs.........

I despair over and over and over again every time a government minister opens their mouth with a new initiative or a new policy. They are so far removed from what the average man on the street is saying and thinking it's untrue. And it makes me despair. I was an adolescent during the 80s, during the Thatcher years, and I know what it's like to live under Tory rule, but the way things are going, it's inevitable that they will win the next election. And, despite the memories of how it was, it would be preferable to the idiots in power now. Which says so much more than these words.

Labour Must Be Voted Out NOW

Yet another unbelievable piece of legislation from this disgrace of a government. Not content with their onslaught against the working classes, communities, and hard working people, they have now decided that the enemy within, which needs to be sorted out, is the white British male.

They are pushing through legislation that it is okay to be discriminatory against the white British male. It is against the law to discriminate against women, against blacks, asians, eastern Europeans, chinese etc, against gay and lesbians, against those with disabilities, and rightly so, as discrimination against a 'group' of people is undeniably wrong. Yet, thanks to this alien government - lets be honest, can ANYONE relate to their ideas and policies?? - it is now perfectly acceptable to discriminate against white British males. Confused??

England has traditionally been a white country. Times change, and the embracing of others is a cool thing. But WTF is happening when a country says its alright to discriminate against its indigenous population?? Name me another country in the world that puts all other peoples who live in their country above those who make up the indigenous population of that country. It is a fucking joke, and yet another example of why these idiots in the Labour Party need to voted out, and then publicly flogged for crimes against its own people.

I am now, legally, the most discriminated against person in the country. In MY country. I am male, 37, straight, white, English, single, working, and have no children. What rules and laws are there to protect me? The only anti-discrimination laws that apply to me are all DISCRIMINATING against me. It is far beyond a joke.

What the idiots who make up the labour party - and probably most of their supporters - fail to recognise is that their is no such thing as positive discrimination as such, because what's positive for one is negative to another. How is giving a black man a job instead of a white man because of his colour any less racist than giving the white man a job over the black man because of the colour of HIS skin?? How is giving a woman a job over a man because of her gender any less sexist than giving it a man over a woman because of his gender?? It isn't at all.

However much it may go against the grain, come the next election I implore EVERYONE to vote these bastards out. The country is in absolute decline, with spiralling costs, with the destruction of the working class, with the eradication of communities and community facilities, with the continuing erosion of our civil liberties and civil rights, and the only way to stop it is to vote these fuckers out.

Well, we've not had one for a while, so....................

My partner is about to go 60, and will qualify for her state pension from September. She recently got a letter through from DSS giving her a pension forecast as to how much the state will give her a week to live on. I will conceal the figure for a short while.........

She has worked since leaving school at 15, bar around 4 years when she had her 2 kids, and around 35 of those have been in full time employment, and she has paid her taxes and the like. When returning to work after having her 2nd child, the government at the time - yes, it was Labour - were encouraging mothers to return to work to fill the jobs that were available by offering them the opportunity to pay what was called Married Woman's Stamp, which was basically a lower rate of National Insurance contributions, so she, like many women of the time, took up the offer and went back to work.

She has predominantly worked in public services, working with the disabled, working with people who have mental health issues, working with refugees, working with children in care or troubled families.

So, her pension forecast came, and she will, after working for 45 years, be paid a pension of 9p per week!! 9 pence a fucking week!!

What an absolute outrage. 45 years of paying taxes, of paying the government recommendation of MW stamp, of working in public services, and the Government say she has to live on 9p a week. For fucks sake.

And why 9 pence a week. The official answer was 'because you haven't been paying full National Insurance contributions'. Erm, hang on a minute, YOU fucking told her not to pay full NI contributions. YOU brought in the fucking legislation to - basically - fool women into paying smaller contributions so that you could rob them as pensioners. You dirty bastards.

Now what really really REALLY gets me mad about this is not the fact that she will only get 9p a week, not the fact that she was hoodwinked by a government that was back then a party that supposedly looked after the working man - yes folks, its true, Labour was once the party of the working classes who looked after those that weren't high fliers - but the fact that shows to me why our society has become some fucked up caricature of civilisation which is on the road to oblivion, and maybe, an uprising.

If she had chosen to stay at home, have loads of kids, never work, never contribute to society other than swell the population, just smoke and drink and take the piss out of the benefits system, she would have been eligible to claim the full state pension. So, instead of contributing thousands and thousands of pounds during her working career through taxes and National Insurance contributions, which qualifies her to 9p a week, she would have been better bleeding the system of housing benefit, unemployment benefit, free NHS prescriptions and dental care, council tax rebates, child benefit and the like that runs into thousands of pounds each year and then qualifying for all the benefits at a pensionable age.

What the fuck is that all about??

How fucked up are we that we penalise those who try to help others, who try to better themselves, who try to contribute to the running of the country, yet we reward those who constantly take the piss out of us all on a daily basis??

Those throwing out child after child and never working or trying to do anything worthwhile for anybody bar themselves get the rewards?? Fuck me, that is the most backward logic I have heard for a long long time.

This government is an absolute disgrace, and those who shape political thought should hold their heads in shame. We have created a society that doesn't give a fuck, but don't need to give a fuck, because the rewards for that far outweigh the rewards for trying to do things properly. Failure is celebrated more than success. Making no effort is thought higher of than trying to do something. Staying at home all day bleeding the country dry is rewarded throughout your life yet working with the GENUINELY vulnerable people in society earns you poverty in older age. Unbelievable things have been happening in this mad crazy country whilst I've been away, and a few in our neck o't'woods. Stabbings and happy slapping deaths. The world is going mad. I used to dislike the idea of changing our laws to accommodate foreigners - hey, if you're willing to work and contribute good to the country, you're welcome with open arms, but don't start asking me to stop my way of life to accommodate yours - but the more crazy this world gets, the more I am coming round to adopting various aspects of Sharia law. Not all of it, but the bits on law and order sound just like the kind of thing that we need for a few years to try to rid this ridiculous attitude that seems to pervade that anyone can do whatever the fuck the want to whatever or whoever and there be no consequences, or the consequences are so nondescript that they are almost like a badge of honour. Hands off for stealing, castration for rape, execution for murder, sign me up, I'm all for it.

Theres too much 'sympathy' for the scum of this world, too many people willing to shout up for their human rights - what about the human rights of those who are the victims???? - and make excuses for them because of their circumstances. Well, I say fuck 'em. You might live in a tenement, with only one parent, and because you fucked about at school you can't get a decent job, but thats no excuse for stabbing people and kicking them to death. Its about time someone had the bollocks to stand up and say enough is enough. Fuck the scrotes and the do gooders. This once great country is being slowly pulled down into the gutter because of the wooly liberals and the do gooders constantly defending low life scum.

I will draw up a manifesto for my (imaginary) attempt at power, and publish shortly, but you can bet yer bottom dollar that the first against the wall for the firing squad will be the lawyers and social workers who defend the Jeremy kyle guests of this world, closely followed by the guests themselves.........................

Back from a fabulous week in the sun, where all was well and I was at peace and ate far too much and drank far too much and ordered our meal in St Tropez in (af)fluent French, enquiring about items on the menu and impressing all around!!! Interesting news this week that Peter Sutcliffe has started to make a case for being released from prison/hospital. For those of you who don't know, he found notoriety in the late 70s as Britain's last at large serial killer, murdering women in the north of England. I hold an unhealthy 'obsession' with all things Peter Sutcliffe - my holiday reading will be a book written before he was caught about who they thought he was - and will be watching how the story develops with great interest. Bad news that Royal Mail are planning to close down my local Post Office. All down to profitability. What a load of absolute bollocks. How do you measure profitability? To me, a service such as a Post Office should be measured in its worth to the local community, not how many stamps it sells. I hate this forever profit drive that seems to engulf our services, streamlining, tendering, privatisation, best value, and all the other buzz words that mean the same thing......GREED. My friend - well, cyber friend - went to see Marc in Cornwall this weekend (Friday counts as weekend to me!!) and here is her review of the show............

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in getting this to you – was hoping to send pics, but they’ll have to follow in another note.

I won’t go into the details of the journey there, but it was a total nightmare and we arrived in the Festival Marquee, just as the lights went down and the show started. The Festival Marquee appeared to be in the grounds of the local primary school and was filled with local people of all ages – not a Marc fan insight – at first. It was all very bizarre!

Marc had the band, Neil, Martin, Carl and Dave and opened with I have Lived. Despite the ‘mixed’ audience he got a great welcome and seemed quite relaxed (considering everything, rain, marquee etc) and spoke about looking forward to cream teas in Cornwall – despite the weather, which was vile buy that point…Next was Redeem Me and again the reception was really good from the audience. R, M and I were sat on the LHS of the stage 3rd row – next to a journo and photographer for The St Austell Voice (J) – article to be published on Weds I think….

Marc did a section of acoustic songs with Neil, Dream Lover, Child Star, Brilliant Creatures and Amsterdam which was fantastic! The audience were really responsive and enjoying the show and Marc was obviously surprised by the reaction he was getting and loving it! Mr Sad was a real treat with the whole band again, before the 1st half was closed with a set of songs with Martin on piano, What makes a man a man, Yesterday when I was young, If you go away and Jacky. It was great to hear If you go away, I really love that one, but I cannot tell you how well the whole set was received by such a non standard Marc audience! The audience was the complete opposite of the unquestioning, loyal and devoted from the Wilton’s shows. A real mixture of locals supporting the Du Maurier festival, pensioners, ladies in the 30’s who may have remembered Marc from the 80’s and were out for a night out and a good time….During the break Rod overheard someone describing Marc as very professional and expressionate ;-)

During the break we did spot a few familiar faces, 2 fans from Birmingham – Adrian and a girl with a black bob whose name I missed, the Japanese fan and a one or two others….M was with us and was wearing the Stardom Rd T-Shirt – he was receiving a lot of comments!!! Don’t think people expected a 5 year old to be a fan! He sang along with all the songs and had a great view as the layout mean there was only 1 row of seats in front of us.

The second half opened with Something’s gotten hold of my heart and the whole place came alive ! A bunch of ladies immediately jumped up and started dancing in the area between the stage and front row – Marc seemed thrilled by the reaction! Next was Back stage I’m lonely, then Tears Run rings, and My Hand over my heart. More and more people began to fill the ‘dance floor’ and by the time Marc did Days of Pearly Spencer it was like being in a nightclub! Marc then did The Boy who came back and M and I went down to the front of the stage and he sat on the edge of the stage, in front of Martin Watkins J

Next was Tainted Love and the whole place (~500 people) went wild! Next was What and then I close my eyes. Marc was obviously really enjoying himself and was jumping around the stage – so far away from the ‘exhauted’ angry figure from IndigO2. He closed the set with SHWG and I’ve never heard it get a better reception – the whole audience appeared to sing along!

We’d taken flowers and hoped we’d get chance to give them to Marc. During the final section of SHWG someone gave Marc, Neil and Martin red Gerbera, M ran back to our seats to get our flowers and stood on the edge of the stage and handed them to Marc as he walked towards us J Marc was very kind, smiled and waved to M, before taking the flowers back to the middle of the stage where he thanked me also J I was very very happy and M and I had a big hug and waved to Marc as he closed the song. We weren’t able to record it and there’s no chance any of this will be posted on YouTube, but we shall never forget it!

It was a really really special night – I’m sorry that you weren’t there, but I’m sure Bexhill/Leeds – your next show will be fabulous. After a terrible journey to get there, and last minute, post Wilton’s ticket purchases, it was more than worth all the hassle and we were sooo pleased to have been there to experience a great set of songs, in a fabulous atmosphere, with a happy and relaxed Marc and most of all for M and Marc to have ‘met’.

It was great to see Marc being able to connect and entertain such an audience, as well as the devoted at Wilton’s only a week or two ago - if ever he needed reassurance that he still has the ability to be a great performer he need look no further than these shows.

I do hope Marc wasn’t too freaked out to be confronted by a small boy in a Stardom Rd T-shirt on the edge of the stage holding a bunch of red roses!

The news that Boris has been voted Mayor of London is one that pleases me no end. Not because I'm a Tory. Not because I vote Labour. No, as a non-London dweller, this has to be the best election vote EVER!!

He is such a buffoon, but living outside London, I don't care. I may start a thread of Boris-isms!! He is a complete halfwit - surely that could be a Boris-ism - but he will be absolutely first class entertainment. He is the prince Phillip of the political world. Words like picaninny and calling the scousers a group who love to wallow in tragedy augers well for a non stop stream of quotes and funnies that can be added to the blog!!

Politics, and especially politicians, is not the most interesting topic usually, and certainly not something to celebrate or talk of in any other mode than moaning and complaining - hey, you've read my rants, and they are the water cress of the ice berg!! - but now it is all gonna change. Hey, he literally stumbled into office, so roll on the good times, the funny politics, the humour and positivity of being able to smile when talking about politics.

To any cockneys reading, if you weren't cockneys you would have my sympathy, but fuck it, you've had the advantages and favours for long enough. Its our turn to laugh at you now.

Back from the smoke, but the delay is because I am only just back of this world!! Mr Almond was on tip top form, doing a show for fans, performing just a couple of singles in a 2 hour set, and none of them were hits and are more than 20 years old!!

Singing some of his old stuff, some of his unreleased stuff, some obscure B-Sides, some cover versions, some Russian songs etc, we were all treated to an artist who is in the prime of his career, performing in the world's oldest music hall to only a couple of hundred people each night, making it a very intense and personal show, complete and utter genius. I know I'm probably preaching to the perverted, but here is Marc singing Gyp The Blood, to finish the show...............
